Description

Ford 5.0 COYOTE Forged 4032 alloy Power Pak piston Kits are a perfect choice for longevity and durability for Coyote engines. The Power Pak pistons come complete with pins, locks, and rings. The rings included are plasma moly low drag design featuring 1mm top, 1mm 2nd and 2mm oil rings. They also run SUPER TIGHT clearances between .0006" and .0014" meaning better ring seal and low on noise.

***These pistons also come with a HARD ANODIZED top ring groove for strength and longevity in EXTREME DUTY applications.

The MAHLE Motorsports Power Pak kit is a high volume shelf stock program developed for high performance enthusiasts and sportsman class racers. The Power Pak pistons are predominately made from 4032 aluminum alloy to allow for tighter cylinder to wall clearances, and improved temperature stability. Each kit is complete with a set of high performance rings, containing a low drag 1mm, 1mm, 2mm set high performance Ring Pak.

Power Pak feature includes:
  • Forged piston for performance applications
  • Fully-machined crown
  • Grafal anti-Friction coating on skirts*
  • Phosphate-coated to reduce micro-welding and pin galling**
  • Pin bores binished on CNC boring equipment
  • Deburred
  • High strength, light weight steel pins
  • Race proven round wire locks
  • Low drag ring pak
  • Light weight slipper kirt forgings

* MAHLE’s GRAFAL® skirt coating reduces drag, scuffing, friction and cylinder bore wear; reduces piston noise.

** Phosphate coating provides the grey appearance to the MAHLE piston. This dry lubricant coating (not to be confused with a thermal film coating) provides a lubricant film in the pin bores and ring grooves until the oiling system of the engine reaches operating pressure; particularly useful during the initial start-up or break-in of engines to protect against galling and microwelding. The piston crown is still machineable.

Features
  • MAHLE means performance, and with over 80 years of rich heritage, MAHLE possess several attributes which gives the racers the competitive advantage they seek. The following characteristics are the “Features and Benefits” of the MAHLE piston which separate us from the competitors.

    • ULTRA FLAT RING GROOVES, THE KEY TO POWER
  • Every MAHLE Motorsport piston is machined to exacting tolerances with focused attention given to the radial flatness of the ring grooves. A flat ring groove is essential in achieving and maintaining the best seal possible. The quality of the ring grooves is so critical to peak and lasting performance, that MAHLE designed and built the machinery used to machine the ring grooves for its MotorSport piston assemblies. Combined with ultra flat MAHLE rings that are included in every PowerPak piston kit, MAHLE delivers the formula for the best sealing power cell on the market.

    • A TRUE PERFORMANCE COATING
  • MAHLE Motorsports’ proprietary Grafal® anti-friction skirt coating is like no other on the market. It is graphite impregnated to reduce drag like many other skirt coatings, but this is where the similarities end. The screen print application provides superior adhesion and is designed to last 100,000+ miles. Because Grafal® is a compressible membrane with a unique cushioning property, harsh contact between the piston skirt and the bore is dramatically reduced. Resulting in much less wear on the bore and significantly reduces piston skirt fatigue.

    • LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, NOT ALL FORGINGS ARE ALIKE
  • MAHLE Motorsport, creators of the “Slipper Skirt” forging design, uses strong, lightweight, low drag forgings in every PowerPak piston kit. Not all piston manufacturers can make that claim. A Slipper Skirt forging offers many benefits over the standard “Full Round” design, but the technology runs much deeper than looks alone. These benefits are only achieved through the proper management of the design; any misapplication can result in a similar looking part with poor performance. Trust the leader in piston technology, MAHLE Motorsport.
